Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Technological Innovation outlined five priorities for 2026 on Tuesday during a budget review meeting.
The plan focuses on expanding internet access to narrow the digital divide and improve access to online services. It also aims to improve government revenue collection through digital payments, boost digital skills and inclusion, strengthen cybersecurity and public trust in digital systems, and support innovation and the uptake of emerging technologies.
“We must ensure our programmes are effectively implemented to meet the targets set in our 2026 performance plan and support the country’s digital transformation,” Digital Transition Minister Djibril Ouattara said.
Government steps up training and innovation efforts
Digital transformation is a key government priority in Côte d’Ivoire. Recent initiatives include training teachers and education officials in digital tools and artificial intelligence, developing integrated online public services, and hosting international events on emerging technologies.
As part of these efforts, the government, in partnership with UNESCO and German development agency GIZ, launched the second phase of a programme to build digital skills among supervisory and teaching staff in March.
The ministry’s budget is set at 83.2 billion CFA francs ($145.2 million) for 2026, up from 68.6 billion CFA francs in 2025.
