Thailand’s leading digital media association has selected students from 12 universities nationwide to join the Young Digital News Providers 2025 boot camp, a three‑day programme designed to equip aspiring journalists with essential AI skills and modern media ethics.
The programme, organised by the Online News Providers Association (SONP), draws participants from across the country who submitted standout digital news proposals. The selected students will attend an intensive workshop from January 30 to February 1 at the Sirindhorn Science Home Auditorium in Pathum Thani.
This year’s cohort reflects growing industry expectations, as AI takes on a bigger role in global newsrooms. SONP said the 2026 media landscape demands stronger AI literacy, ethical judgement and rigorous fact‑checking—competencies it hopes to strengthen among the next generation of reporters.
The initiative is backed by the Thai Media Fund, with support from the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), True Corporation, Thai Oil, the Bank of Thailand, Boonrawd Trading and the SCG Foundation. Organisers said the collaboration aims to promote a safer and more responsible media ecosystem.
Students selected this year come from a wide range of institutions, including Chulalongkorn University, Burapha University, Mahasarakham University, Rangsit University, several Rajabhat universities, Prince of Songkla University Pattani Campus, Panyapiwat Institute of Management and North Bangkok University.
During the residential training, participants will receive mentorship from leading media experts, including legal adviser Paiboon Amornpinyokiat, Google Thailand’s Thanapon Raomanachai, ‘Sure and Share’ host Peeraphon Anutarasot, PPTV journalist Thanyarat Thamoi, SPRiNG’s Kittipat Kasemsophon, and editorial leaders from Thai PBS and Post Today.
In addition to the training, students will have the opportunity to be selected for internships at more than 48 SONP‑member newsrooms. They may also submit their work for the 2026 Young Digital Journalist Award, which will be showcased by major Thai media outlets.
