Adobe Turns PDFs Into AI-Powered Collaborative Workspaces With New Acrobat Features
Adobe has unveiled a major AI-driven upgrade for Acrobat, introducing new tools designed to transform traditional PDF documents into interactive digital workspaces. The latest update brings a productivity-focused AI agent and enhanced PDF Spaces capabilities, allowing users to collaborate, organise content, and generate summaries more efficiently.
With this move, Adobe is expanding its AI ecosystem beyond document viewing and editing, positioning Acrobat as a smarter platform for research, teamwork, and content creation. The company said the new tools are now available through Acrobat AI plans and the recently introduced Acrobat Express Studio.
At the centre of the update is Adobe’s new productivity agent, which combines document intelligence with generative AI capabilities. According to Adobe, the tool can help users understand, organise, and repurpose information from documents using conversational prompts.
The AI agent is capable of generating presentations, text-based content, podcasts, social media posts, and summaries directly from documents. It can also assist users with editing PDFs through natural language interactions, reducing the need for manual formatting and navigation.
Adobe noted that the productivity agent is part of a larger AI strategy focused on changing how people work.
The company added that the tool is designed to work with both Adobe’s AI technologies and third-party AI agents, helping users manage documents, tasks, and workflows across multiple platforms more seamlessly.
The new AI experience operates inside PDF Spaces, which Adobe describes as an intelligent collaborative workspace. Instead of simply sharing a PDF file, users can now create interactive content hubs that combine PDFs, notes, web links, and supporting documents in one place.
Adobe noted that the system can automatically generate titles, summaries, and audio overviews for shared documents.
Users can personalise these spaces by rearranging files, adding context, and even configuring a custom AI assistant tailored to specific audiences or projects. The AI assistant can answer questions, provide suggestions, and guide users through the shared material.
Another key feature is live content updating. Adobe stated that shared PDF Spaces can automatically refresh whenever source files are modified, ensuring recipients always access the latest version of the content without requiring manual re-sharing.
The update also introduces branding and engagement tools for professionals and businesses. Users can add logos, custom colour themes, and multimedia elements to create polished, presentation-ready experiences.
Adobe is also offering engagement insights within PDF Spaces, allowing users to track how recipients interact with shared content and identify when follow-ups may be required.
Among the newly introduced capabilities, users can:
- Create personalised collaborative spaces by combining PDFs, notes, documents, and links
- Generate AI-powered audio overviews for faster content understanding
- Customise AI assistants to answer audience-specific questions
- Add branding elements such as logos and colour themes
- Monitor engagement insights and recipient interactions
Adobe said shared PDF Spaces can also be accessed by anyone without requiring an account, making collaboration easier across teams and external stakeholders.
The new productivity agent and publishing features are currently available through Adobe Acrobat AI subscription plans, including Acrobat Studio and the latest Acrobat Express offering.
