Top 5 Trending AI/ML OSS on GitHub [As of October 16, 2026]|かえる

A massive number of repositories are created on GitHub every day, but finding the ones that are ‘gaining stars right now’ is surprisingly difficult. In this series, we monitor GitHub Trending to introduce trending open-source projects in an easy-to-understand way, alternating between AI/ML and Web development tools.

This time, the genre is AI/ML OSS. The ranking is based on the ‘stars gained today’ as confirmed on GitHub Trending, and repositories introduced in previous articles are excluded. Each repository is accompanied by a diagram based on the content of its README. For those with actual measurement data, a comparison graph is provided; otherwise, a conceptual diagram summarizing the challenges and effects is used.

1st Place: debpalash/VoiceStudio

Total 70,086 stars (+2,301 today)

VoiceStudio is an open-source application that can perform voice cloning, voice design, video dubbing, voice input, transcription, and audiobook creation in 646 languages. It is characterized by running in a local environment, and the README explains that it aims to be an alternative to ElevenLabs. It also features a local API and MCP for agents. On macOS and Linux, you can install the desktop app with ‘curl -fsSL https://voicestudio.sh/install | sh’, and on Windows, you use ‘irm https://voicestudio.sh/install | iex’. This is likely to appeal to those who create video and audio content.

2nd Place: xerj-org/xerj

Total 6,378 stars (+1,647 today)

XERJ is a local AI search that automatically indexes folders, allowing coding agents to retrieve only the necessary code instead of reading files one by one and consuming tokens. In the README’s measurements (8 tasks, 4 languages, 16 iterations each), the output tokens were 260,916 for memory-only, 26,477 for grep-driven, and 9,982 for XERJ, with a resolution rate of 16/16, the same as grep. The README itself explains that it is highly effective for private or new code that the model does not know. It is written in Rust and can be installed via the one-liner installation script in the README.

3rd Place: ifixai-ai/iFixAi

Total 28,531 stars (+1,587 today)

iFixAi is an auditing tool that uncovers mistakes and blind spots in AI agents before they are deployed to production. According to the README, existing evaluation and red-teaming tools focus on technical metrics, making it difficult to measure whether an agent is operating according to business objectives. iFixAi explains that it diagnoses this within 120 seconds while balancing AI red-teaming and operational assurance. It is installed with ‘pip install “ifixai[openai]”‘, configured with ‘ifixai setup’, and executed with ‘ifixai run’. This is likely to appeal to teams that want to put agents into business operations.

4th Place: anthropics/claude-plugins-official

Total 39,814 stars (+1,552 today)

claude-plugins-official is the official directory for Claude Code plugins managed by Anthropic. It is divided into ‘plugins’ developed by Anthropic itself and ‘external_plugins’ by partners and the community, allowing you to find carefully selected extensions. Installation can be done with ‘/plugin install {plugin-name}@claude-plugins-official’. However, the README includes a warning to verify that you trust the plugin before installing it. This is likely to be a gateway for those who want to use Claude Code extensively.

5th Place: affaan-m/ECC

Total 280,880 stars (+1,057 today)

ECC is a system that provides AI coding agents with a development workflow consisting of ‘plan -> test -> implement -> review -> verify -> remember -> improve’. Instead of teaching the procedure via prompts every time, the idea is to install it once and incorporate it into the agent’s behavior itself, supporting multiple harnesses centered on Claude Code. It is open-source under the MIT license. In Claude Code, you can install the plugin with ‘/plugin install ecc@ecc’, so it is suitable for developers who want to stabilize agent quality.

Summary

This time, tools surrounding AI agents stood out. ECC, which organizes agent development procedures; claude-plugins-official, the official repository for extensions; iFixAi, which diagnoses agents; and XERJ, a search tool that reduces token consumption—four of these support the periphery of agent operations. On the other hand, the 1st place VoiceStudio gained significant support as an app that handles audio locally. Next time, we plan to bring you the Web development tools edition.
