5 Web Development Tools Trending on GitHub [As of October 24, 2026]|かえる
This is a series where we monitor GitHub trends and introduce repositories that are currently gaining attention. We alternate genres every week, and this time we are bringing you the “Web Development Tools” edition.
The ranking is based on the “number of stars gained today” as confirmed on GitHub Trending. We selected the top 5 most momentum-driven repositories, not based on total star count. Repositories already introduced in past articles are excluded.
We have included illustrations for each repository. For those with actual measurements before and after implementation in their README, we used comparison graphs; for others, we used conceptual diagrams showing “from challenges to effects.”
1st Place: cloudflare/security-audit-skill
Total 42,151 stars (+2,716 today)
A skill released by Cloudflare that turns coding agents into “security auditors.” It divides the process into six phases—reconnaissance, vulnerability scanning with an emphasis on coverage, candidate verification, structured output, independent record verification, and report generation—and assigns them to isolated agents. It is said to be the starting point for Cloudflare’s vulnerability discovery harness. Installation is done via npx skills add https://github.com/cloudflare/security-audit-skill –skill security-audit, and you can start an audit simply by asking the agent “security audit this codebase” in the target codebase. It is suitable for web developers who want to identify vulnerabilities in their own services.
2nd Place: DietrichGebert/ponytail
Total 174,804 stars (+1,575 today)
A skill that makes AI agents behave like a “long-haired, taciturn veteran developer” to prevent them from writing unnecessary code. Imagine having a senior developer living inside your agent who, when shown 50 lines of code, silently replaces them with just one line. According to the README benchmarks (Claude Code, 39 tasks, 5 runs each), compared to not using it, code volume is reduced by 53%, time required by 41%, cost by 26%, and tokens by 45%. In Claude Code, it is installed by running /plugin marketplace add DietrichGebert/ponytail followed by /plugin install ponytail@ponytail. This seems perfect for teams struggling with the bloat of AI-generated code.
3rd Place: stablyai/orca
Total 103,888 stars (+1,081 today)
A desktop app that allows you to run multiple AI agents, such as Codex, Claude Code, and OpenCode, in parallel using independent git worktrees and manage them from a single screen. You can use it to distribute a single instruction to five agents, compare the results, and merge the best one. It features split terminals, viewing GitHub and Linear PRs/issues, commenting on AI-generated diffs, and a mobile app to check progress from your smartphone. On macOS, you can install it by typing brew install –cask stablyai/orca/orca via Homebrew; Windows and Linux versions are also available. It is for those who want to develop by running multiple agents simultaneously.
4th Place: firecrawl/firecrawl
Total 194,682 stars (+430 today)
An API that searches and retrieves information from the web and returns it in a format that is easy for AI agents to handle. It supports pages that heavily use JavaScript and provides clean Markdown, structured JSON, screenshots, and more. Firecrawl handles the troublesome parts like proxies and rate limiting. The README states that it covers 96% of the web and has a P95 latency of 3.4 seconds across millions of pages. To connect it to AI agents or MCP clients, run npx -y firecrawl-cli@latest init –all –browser. It is suitable for developers who want to incorporate web data into AI apps.
5th Place: supabase/supabase
Total 113,792 stars (+428 today)
A development platform based on Postgres that aims to achieve a Firebase-like development experience using open-source components. You can use a hosted Postgres database, authentication and authorization, automatically generated REST/GraphQL/real-time APIs, functions like Edge Functions, file storage, AI-focused toolkits like vector search, and a dashboard all in one place. You can start immediately by signing up at supabase.com without installation, and self-hosting or local development is also possible. It is perfect for those who want to build web apps without building a backend from scratch.
Summary
The top spots this time were occupied by three skills and environments for coding agents (security-audit-skill, ponytail, and orca). firecrawl, which retrieves web information, is also growing as an API for AI agents. It is evident that the focus of web development tools is shifting from tools used by humans to tools for mastering AI agents. Even so, it was impressive to see that a classic backend foundation like Supabase, which is based on Postgres, continues to steadily gather support today.
Next time, we plan to bring you the AI/ML OSS edition. Stay tuned.
