TEDxMiami 2026 explores humanity in age of tech
TEDxMiami has announced its upcoming event, themed “The Future is Human,” exploring how modern technology is reshaping humanity for better, for worse, and in ways we are only beginning to understand. The event will take place on Thursday, May 14, 7 p.m., at the New World Center, 500 17 St., Miami Beach.
This year’s program brings together global innovators, technologists, futurists, educators, health leaders, and community builders to examine the evolving relationship between humans and machines, work and automation, connection and isolation, risk and responsibility. Through powerful storytelling and forward-thinking ideas, TEDxMiami 2026 will challenge audiences to ask and review what technology can do and what it should do.
Participants include:
Camille Carlton (The Future of Relationships) is policy director at the Center for Humane Technology where she leads policy strategy to ensure technology is designed and developed in public interest. She is an Aspen Tech Policy Hub Fellow and holds a master’s degree in development, with a focus on technology and society, from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Tony Cho (The Future of Regenerative Spaces) is founder and CEO of Future of Cities and Metro 1. Cho is a community developer and urban innovator focused on regenerative design, equitable cities, and socially conscious development. He works at the intersection of real estate, sustainability, and community to reimagine how cities are built for both people and planet.
Ruthe Farmer (The Future of Tech Talent) is CEO of Last Mile Education Fund and national advocate for expanding access to STEM education and diversifying the technology workforce.
Marcus Fontoura (The Future of Human Learning) is a Technical Fellow at Microsoft and former CTO for Azure Core. Fontoura leads large-scale distributed systems and cloud innovation, exploring how AI is transforming learning and knowledge.
Dr. Elie Haddad (The Future of Human Health: The Age of Microplastics) is a cardiologist researching the impact of microplastics on cardiovascular health and long-term human wellness.
Vivienne Ming (The Future of Innovation) is a theoretical neuroscientist, entrepreneur, and founder of Socos Labs. Ming uses AI to solve some of humanity’s most complex challenges, from education to workforce transformation.
Roman Yampolskiy, PhD (The Future of AI Safety and Existential Risk) is a tenured faculty member at the University of Louisville and globally recognized expert in AI safety and security, Dr. Yampolskiy studies the long-term risks and safeguards of advanced artificial intelligence.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and Talks begin at 7 p.m.
