HiveMinds Playbook 2026 maps changing rules of brand building in digital-first economy
HiveMinds, a unit of Madison World, has released the 2026 edition of its Ecommerce Playbook at the HiveMinds Ecommerce Conclave 2026, outlining structural changes in digital commerce, marketing strategy, and consumer behaviour in India.
The report is based on research, analysis, and industry observations conducted over several months, and compiles insights, frameworks, and case-based learnings aimed at reflecting how the ecosystem is evolving.
“This year we are not talking about a small change… this year the change is big. That’s why we called it the great digital shift,” said Deepti Bhadauria, CEO of HiveMinds.
Shift from Performance Marketing to Integrated Brand Building
A central theme in the playbook is the transition from a performance-led digital ecosystem—historically focused on metrics such as clicks, attribution, and optimization—to a more integrated model that combines performance with brand-building elements like storytelling, personalization, and user experience.
The report frames this as a broader shift in how marketers approach growth, rather than a tactical adjustment.
“We just wanted to assimilate the learnings from the full year and put them together into a replicable, referable format,” Bhadauria said.
Forces Driving Ecosystem Change
The playbook identifies several factors contributing to this shift:
- Increased adoption of real-time personalization at scale
- Greater reliance on data partnerships to enhance consumer understanding
- Expanded use of AI in campaign creation, optimization, and automation
- Evolution of digital platforms into content and storytelling environments
“Every digital platform is now a storytelling medium,” Bhadauria noted.
Evolving Consumer Behaviour and Redefinition of Affluence
The report highlights changes in consumer behaviour, including a redefinition of affluence. Instead of being determined solely by income or demographics, affluence is increasingly linked to intent and willingness to pay for convenience.
“There is a whole generation that is ready to pay for the luxury of time,” Bhadauria said.
This shift is influencing how brands approach product development, discovery mechanisms, and communication strategies, particularly in the context of rising expectations for immediacy and seamless experiences.
AI and the Next Phase of Marketing
The playbook outlines the growing role of AI and automation in marketing, including applications in campaign management and creative production.
“There will be even more usage of AI, and campaign management will become even more automated and efficient,” Bhadauria said.
At the same time, the report notes that technology adoption alone may not be sufficient, and that combining data-driven insights with effective storytelling will remain important.
Frameworks for Application
In addition to insights, the playbook includes practical frameworks designed for application across industries and growth stages. These cover:
- Full-funnel integration in non-linear consumer journeys
- The role of creators and content in building trust and influencing decisions
- Balancing performance marketing with long-term brand investments
- Identifying and engaging emerging consumer segments
Industry Context and Ongoing Shifts
The report situates these findings within broader developments in India’s digital commerce ecosystem, noting:
- Measurement is no longer sufficient as a standalone strategy
- Personalization is becoming an expected baseline
- Content is playing a central role in both discovery and conversion
- Brand-building and performance marketing are increasingly interconnected
