The headline speakers for Africa Tech Festival 2026 confirmed
It is that time of the year again, when the African continent’s most important telecommunications companies get ready to descend on the city of Cape Town for Africa Tech Festival. Registrations are now open for the 2026 iteration of the event, which is now going into its 29th edition.
Along with registrations, the headline speakers for the annual event have been confirmed, with industry leaders and government officials slated to attend and deliver their insights over the three-day long event.
To that end, South Africa’s Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Solly Malatsi (pictured above) has been mentioned. The minister has been in the news of late for his role in telecommunications-related deals in SA, along with attending several local industry events in recent months.
As such, he is expected to once again highlight the importance of digital transformation in SA and across the African continent, with the telecommunications industry forming a key part in achieving any such objectives.
“Hon. Solly Malatsi, South Africa’s Minister of Communications & Digital Technologies, whose department is a strategic partner of the event, will offer insight into building an inclusive, globally competitive digital economy,” noted organisers in a release to Hypertext.
“Global technology companies are represented by Alex Okosi, Managing Director, Africa, at Google, who will speak to the scale of investment flowing into the continent’s cloud and AI infrastructure; Emmanuel Lubanzadio, Africa Lead at OpenAI, focusing on AI adoption and readiness across African markets; and Robert Koen, Managing Director, Sub-Saharan Africa, at Amazon,” they added.
Along with leaders from big tech firms that have established a presence in SA, a number of leaders from the telecoms space will be present too. To that end, regulars from the continent’s largest network operators have been confirmed.
“They are joined by leaders from Africa’s telecommunications sector, including Enzo Scarcella, Chief Consumer Officer at MTN Group; Norbert Prihoda, Chief Executive Officer of Tunisie Telecom; and Daddy Yogo Ngbabendo, Group Vice President, Solutions & Architecture at Airtel Africa,” organisers highlighted.
“Also joining the programme are Marcel Louw, Managing Director, Africa, at Digital Realty, bringing a data centre perspective, alongside enterprise leaders Thato Sopeng, Vice President, Information Technology, at Sasol, and Linda Oniwe, Senior Vice President, TMT, Corporate and Investment Banking, at Standard Bank Group,” it continued.
